I used to see anxiety as my enemy, but it turned out to be one of my greatest teachers.
I was born in a dysfunctional home. My mom’s unstable moods and anger flares, and my dad’s manipulative character created an unpredictable atmosphere where I felt unseen and unsafe.
As I grew older, I became very curious about the neurological root of anxiety & unbalanced emotions. Trying to find a solution, I read and researched non-stop about the root cause of mental illness in order to make sense of what I was feeling, and my mother was experiencing.
In graduate school at Johns Hopkins University, I devoted my research to the topic, and found that the evidence regarding mindfulness as an effective alternative to alleviate anxiety, depression and other mental disorders was undeniable. It was then that I became my own laboratory.
Gradually, I started to notice a significant decrease not only in the level of anxiety I had had in the past but in the way I perceived life. That is how I began a path of deep self-understanding and self-compassion, a path which could bring healing to the preexistent unresolved wounds that had plagued my life.
Instead of wondering why this is happening to me, I began to ask myself what this is trying to teach me. That was when everything started to shift. And this path has actually saved my life.
That was 24 years ago. I have been on a path of personal evolution and spiritual awakening since then. Along the way, I've studied many modalities of holistic healing and life coaching.
As my anxiety evaporated, I committed myself to sharing what I had learned with those who are suffering. I became passionate about spreading the word with the world, and that is how EmbraceMindfulness.org, my online learning platform, was born.
My work is now my spiritual practice. It really matters to me. I care deeply about every single one of my followers. I want to serve all those who feel stuck or unmotivated or disconnected in life, and who suffer silently as I did.
I hold a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and a Master's Certificate in Mind, Brain and Teaching (MCMBT), graduating summa cum laude, from Johns Hopkins University.
In this program, I focused my research review on the mechanisms involved in allostatic load, the consequences of stress overload on the nervous system, and the impact it has on mood, learning, behavior, executive function, and well-being as well as the effectiveness of mindfulness as an intervention to ameliorate and even transform our reaction to stressors.
I have created 19 courses, to share the powerful neuroscience-based techniques I developed to master my own mind, to transform my emotions and the mindfulness tools to become my best self.
I am passionate about helping people transform their past wounds into power, and see the opportunities that chaos always brings.
