Jo Porritt
Integrative Somatic Therapist
Jo Porritt is Founder of Stillpoint Health Ltd, an Integrative Somatic Therapy Clinic, based in Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Her training encompasses Somatic Psychology, Gabor Mate's psycho-therapeutic approach, Compassionate Inquiry and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy.
She believes in continual professional development and regular supervision as the world of trauma therapy and the combination of both top-down and bottom-up approaches are rapidly changing the original world of psychotherapy. Post-graduate trainings include Somatic Experiencing for Chronic Pain with Dr Peter Levine, Neuro-Affective Touch with Dr Aline LaPierre and Developmental Trauma with Dr Raja Selvam.
She has training in human Anatomy & Physiology and her work is influenced by the work of Dr Stephen Porges and The Polyvagal Theory and Internal Family Systems, developed by Dr Richard Schwartz.
Jo is a Member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. This register is approved as an Accredited Register by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care, a body accountable to UK Parliament. She is also a Member of The International Cranial Association and The International Association of Biodynamic Training.
Jo believes that her own experience of learning to live well with auto-immune disease and surviving adverse childhood experiences gives her a unique perspective that cannot be taught. This combination means that she is a sought after practitioner that has developed an extensive capacity for working with clients who have experienced trauma and chronic illness, and have often searched for relief and answers from many places before finding Jo. Her understanding of this often lonely and debilitating journey has allowed her to develop her own unique approach to treating long standing maladaptive patterns in the autonomic nervous system with great success.
She works with private clients both online and in her clinic in Guernsey, as well as providing regular educational workshops and speaking by inviation at events for corporates and private institutions.
She is fascinated by human behaviour and is passionate about personal development, the future of psychotherapy and how our relationship with the natural world impacts our unfoldign health.
In her spare time Jo finds resource in gardening, year round sea swimming and spending time with her family and dogs.
