Jamila Banks: A Transformative Leader and Advocate for Thriving Communities
Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, Jamila Banks is a testament to resilience and determination. Despite growing up in a single-parent household marked by challenges such as domestic violence, poverty, and the aftermath of the Los Angeles riots, Jamila's early experiences forged the foundation for her life's mission: empowering others to transform adversity into triumph.
Inspired by her late mother, Ar’Lisa Foster—a highly educated woman of unwavering faith—Jamila learned the importance of perseverance, self-belief, and service to the community. These lessons continue to guide her as she dedicates her life to helping others thrive.
Jamila is the Founder and Executive Director of the Foster & Banks Walk in Faith Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides holistic support for at-risk youth, individuals, and families. A licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, transformational life coach, motivational speaker, and community advocate, Jamila combines her professional expertise with her personal journey to make a meaningful impact across Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties, and founded CEOME LLC to support that mission.
Her diverse background spans social services, mental health, education, community organizing, and entrepreneurship. With over 14 years of experience in mental health and personal development, Jamila has supported countless individuals in navigating trauma, overcoming challenges, and achieving their goals.
She employs a blend of therapeutic and practical methodologies, integrating mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and solution-focused techniques to empower her clients to thrive.
Jamila holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Southern California and an M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of La Verne. Her commitment to lifelong learning is evident through numerous certifications and her active membership in professional organizations such as the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Jamila’s influence extends beyond her professional roles. She has served on community boards, organized workshops and seminars, and advocated for equitable services and opportunities. Through her foundation, she addresses systemic inequities and provides resources that help individuals and families move from survival to success.
Driven by her faith and a deep sense of purpose, Jamila Banks continues to inspire and uplift her community. She is a devoted wife, mother of four, and a tireless champion for holistic transformation, showing others how to lead their lives as the CEO of their own destiny
