Female Empowerment Coach

Catherine Skinner is a female empowerment coach focused on the global issues that disproportionately impact women. Catherine has worked in the non-profit sector in London since 2001 and a charity CEO from 2009, specialising in domestic abuse, stalking and honour-based abuse. However, in 2024, she went through burnout and made the decision to leave the non-profit sector and set up her own coaching company. Frustrated by the limitations of the sector and the pressures placed on her, she wanted to understand more about why this had happened to her and what she could learn to help others. She realised that she burnt out because she felt a disconnection between her own needs and her circumstances. She had dedicated her life to supporting others, looking after her family and community but found that not recognising her own needs was seriously compromising her health. In 2023, Catherine had been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. Prior to that, she experienced long-term unemployment after maternity leave and had been through an abusive relationship with her ex-partner. Through her work, she knew how these challenges are so common for women, and yet there is very little conversation, support, or awareness around how these barriers can leave us powerless, voiceless, isolated, and completely derailed from the plans we had made. Her vision is that every woman can discover her full potential by cultivating self-compassion, connecting with authenticity and living life on purpose. It’s about mastering the skills of fully connecting with our authentic selves through self-compassion and taking meaningful action to change things. The importance of these areas are emerging as key to protecting women’s health. Globally, women are more likely to experience burnout, anxiety, depression, autoimmune disease, male violence, poverty and trauma. Catherine is working to create conversations, communities and safe spaces for women to share, learn, break free and discover their full potential.
