Bilyana Wharton

Integrative Psychotherapist and Hypnotherapist

Bilyana Wharton is an integrative psychotherapist and hypnotherapist specialising in trauma recovery and relational issues. Bulgarian born, raised during the best years of the Communist Era only to witness and live through the destruction of the system, economics, state organisation, ideology, and life as it was. Bilyana graduated from her Alma Mater, the University St Climent Ohridski of Sofia, Bulgaria in 1993 with a Master’s Degree in Primary School Pedagogics and Specialisation in Music.

After a short career as a music teacher, she changed direction by becoming a professional musician playing piano and singing. For almost a decade, she travelled the world, working and living in different countries and cultures. The journeys brought immense insight of how culture can impact an individual’s belief system and behaviours. She became a keen observer of relational dynamics and interpersonal communication.

The natural progression was to train as a psychotherapist, a dream she followed through with, once settled in the UK. The choice of training with Chrysalis Courses UK was influenced by her interest in integrative psychotherapy and her personal belief that therapy is an art of soulful transformation and as any art, it requires knowledge in different styles and techniques.

At the time of her graduation in 2013, she had already undergone additional training with HOPE organisation in working with survivors of sexual abuse. The next step was becoming an independent hypnotherapist for Anxiety UK, a partnership that continued for two and a half years before she embarked on developing her private psychotherapy practice.

Today, Bilyana works with individual clients and couples holding sessions in person or online in the beautiful settings of her home. Truly, being a therapist is not a profession but a part of her identity.

Bilyana is happily married with two grown up children, 4 dogs, 2 cats, 50 sheep and 23 chickens living blissfully together in their small-holding in rural North Yorkshire. She is an imaginative cook, interested in fusion cuisine and passionate about healthy eating and living. Deeply connected to nature, art, and music, practicing yoga and swimming, Bilyana cherishes the joy and calm of life and strives to reignite aliveness in each person she works with.
